The platform makes it possible for entrepreneurs to discover freelancers by having them come in touch with service vendors in three different levels. I'll be frank, I always liked the idea behind Fiverr.com.
Just a few clicks and a client can set an order with a freelancer according to a specific set of deliverables.
Easy peasy, right? Sure, but it comes at a price tag. A large one.
That is only the couple freelance platforms in which buyers have been given free reign to abuse, threaten and outright blackmail vendors any way they like.
Why? Since Fiverr turn a blind eye on it.
In this post, I would like to talk about a new bad experience as a seller on Fiverr, also I decided to give up on the stage altogether.
How A Normal Order Quickly Turned Into A Hostage Situation
While I've been utilizing Fiverr myself (on and off) for a while, this particular encounter relates to my girlfriend's account, not my own.
(I've been advising her on building a respectable accounts, and how to go beyond and above with every previous purchase. Everything stated is her doing, I am just an observer.)
In cases like this, she'd just gotten another $5 sequence on her logo gig, which seemed to be similar to another... or so we thought.
The purchase was fulfilled in great time, and my girlfriend had included a bonus logo concept as well as the source file (that is usually part of the pricier package).
The customer"loved" among the concepts so we moved to ship her the appropriates file sizes, as stated in the final description. Soon afterwards, things got a little bizarre.
The customer came back asking for a social media kit to choose the emblem, something which is clearly not available as part of her or his gig.
Against my advice, my girlfriend decided to deliver the extra work, although not getting paid any extra for this.
Following that, the client responded with more requirements and some changes to the social networking files.
At this time, she agreed enough was enough.
Despite every effort to please this individual, they were clearly overstepping their boundaries here.
That is when the client went from only overstepping bounds to unquestionable blackmail. (The equivalent of carrying my girlfriend Fiverr reputation hostage.)
While she took a while to contemplate a response and reach to Fiverr service for help, the customer did eventually go ahead and render a 1 star review.
Presumably this was to demonstrate her he/she wasn't Fiverr: Get More Sales & Reviews on Fiverr like Top Sellers Udemy kidding.
Soon after, while still waiting on Fiverr's answer to the service query, the client paid an extra $10 for the social networking kit.
Obviously, the payment was accompanied by yet another danger.
At this point, all I wished to do was go all Liam Neeson and seek this individual down so I could repeatedly punch them in the face.
However, at the moment, I had hope that Fiverr support would step in and rescue my girlfriend from this PITA client.
After the response came back from Fiverr service, they told her they could fiverr Client Reviews Clutch.co not induce the purchaser to take the purchase.
Alright, that is reasonable enough. (Even though the buyer accepted it.)
In addition they proposed drawing up a listing for the purchaser to show the work has been done in accordance to the gig requirements.
My girlfriend hauled in her first email the customer was trying to extort her to get free work out the agreed conditions, by making a negative review if she didn't comply.
Obviously, it was not about the work, it was all about seeking protection from an abusive client who had been blatantly pushing his luck.
Their reply did not give us some confidence that Fiverr actually knew , and even in this point we felt as though they didn't want to get involved.
At precisely the identical time, she responded to the buyers newest threat, explaining that she would not continue to operate together unless the comments has been changed/removed.
(Again, this is feedback that was clearly and blatantly made to bully her into providing work outside of the agreed terms.)
A fair petition by anyones standards, appropriate? Well, apparently not.
As opposed to acknowledge what the buyer had done up until this time, Fiverr instantly turned the tables view publisher site on my girlfriend.
Turns out, she was the one breaking all of the rules.
Because she'd requested the client to change their feedback, she was no longer entitled to some help from Fiverr support.
It's possible to imagine how we felt studying this.
Everything that the buyer had done and said before her very last message has been now being swept under the carpet -- as if never happened at all.
Fiverr basically decided to support a manipulative bully, leaving my girlfriend using a permanent stain on an accounts she'd worked so tough to accumulate.
If everything that happened wasn't troubling enough, it's knowing that this man is still running rampant on Fiverr, preying on defensless sellers without a shred of repercussion.
And believe me, there are loads of buyers doing exactly that on Fiverr, knowing they could and will eliminate it.
But as most of this was occurring, I did a little research to see if some other sellers went through a similar ordeal with a buyer.
Very quickly, I found a number of nearly equal cases on the Fiverr forum outdated years back. (that's right, years.)
This is clearly something which's been going on for quite a while and it all stems from providing buyers too much power over vendors.
When there's 1 thing I have heard about Fiverr, it is that clients are ALWAYS more valued than freelancers.
Doesn't matter how much time you put into a job, or how hard you worked on itor even how well you managed communication during a dispute, when it actually comes down to it... freelancers have little to no security.
Even when it's a very clear cut case in your favor, there's still every chance the client will come out on top. All it takes it one little thing you"did no way" in accordance with their own terms of support and EVERYTHING else is ignored
Looking at the evidence, it's obvious to me that Fiverr is well aware of what's happening, yet remains ready to sit back and let it happen.
A Final Message To Fiverr. If you're a decision maker in Fiverr and you're reading this, then I urge you to seriously reevaluate your existing support processes for freelancers.
It is not right that somebody can set all the time and effort into building up an account and over-delivering at every conceivable chance, only to be taken down from the very people that you rely on to safeguard you.
Look, I do not want to leave Fiverr. I don't want to be telling folks to avoid your system.
But after everything that has happened, you have not left me any selection.
Until something is done to guard freelancers from using this kind of abuse, I will continue to propagate this article and do anything I can to stop others from falling victim to a one-sided support staff.
The next you really do something about this and provide freelancers a means to fight , I'll be happy to update the article.
